Atm question?
I am fourteen, and I have a job at my mothers office cleaning. I get paid pretty good. I don't feel comfortable carrying around all of my money when i want to go shopping. I want an ATM card. Can someone explain where I can get one, how much it costs, how old do I have to be to get one, etc.? Please give me details on it! Thanks!!

I work at a bank and most banks have the same policy. You have to have a state issued ID. Since your only 14 then you probably don't have one. So you can ask your mom to get one in her name at her bank so can use it. Most banks offer Young Saver's accounts. You can open a savings account and get an ATM card to use it. That's works every time when kids from my bank want cards. So here are the steps.
1. Open a savings account with your mother
2. Deposit your check each payday
3. Request an ATM card
4. GO SHOPPING!
Let me know if this helps

I think you may have to be 16 with a parents approval for an ATM card. Well thats how it was at my bank. I wanted to get one when I was 14 but they said no and that I have to be 16. Anyway the first hing you will need to do is go to the bank with your mother and ask them exactly what there process is.

Wow, impressive for someone your age. Most 14 yr olds are just not good at managing money, they mostly expect allowances vs working, and most are concerned more with current fashion than working and saving for the future.
Your mother must be very proud. As far as an ATM (aka debit card) maybe you can discuss opening an account together where you have control of your money. I do not think you can open an account alone due to your age, there are fees that you must commit to when a person opens an account that your not old enough to "contractually obligate" to at 14 yrs old, but as responsible as it seems you are, as a mother myself, I would take a chance with you.

you get an atm card at the bank...it is linked to your bank account.
since you are 14 - you may need a parents approval for this.
