Help for depression?

I am depressed and irritable and have been for ages. I have been to three different doctors who all said it was just stress and it will go away. This is not just stress, I know my mind and body. This is causing serious problems in my marriage. How do I get a doctor to listen to me and take me seriously?

I've suffered from depression from time to time, so I empathize with you.

It's really important to find a doctor who listens. Sometimes, that takes consulting more than one before you find one who is able to provide you with quality treatment. There are some wonderful doctors out there, so, I would just implore you to not give up and just keep working to find a good doctor.

There are wonderful anti-depressants on the market these days. A few years ago, when I was going through a very difficult period in my life, I took Wellbutrin for about 9 months. It's not habit-forming and it didn't make me feel like I was a walking zombie or something. It just levels the playing field so that you are able to look at your problems from a different, more calm, less overwhelmed perspective.

I wish you well with this. As someone who has gone through it, I know you'll also come through this just fine.

I'm not saying you're crazy, but you need to make an appointment with a mental health agency in your area., There are counselors and therepist who will be able to help you with your problem more than your primary physician can.
