Birth control pills as long as you have been taking them for a week or two atleast he doesn't need to use a condom, and if you decide you want to conceive it will take 6 to 9 months after you stop taking them but you will be able to conceive. My self personally I never had any side effects. Here is a link

There is no need to use a condom while you are on birth control pill unless there is a possibility of an STD (which in your case there is not). Birth control pills only protect against pregnancy. There are several side effects but they vary from brand to brand. You can probably look them up on the internet for the brand that you are taking. The most common ones are weight gain or loss (which only occurs at the beginning) but nearly everything you can imagine has at one time or another been attributed to birth control pills. Good side effects are shorter periods, less cramps, and healthier skin. The pill will not work immediately so to be sure that you do not become pregnant you should continue using a condom for a while (the packet inside the birth control should explain possible side effects and the length of time it takes to become effective). There are woman who say that they had trouble conceiving b/c of birth control pills but this is generally not 100% of the cause. The length of time you take the pills shouldn't matter either - the reading I have done says that if your body takes 3 months to get back to a regular cycle after you quit the pills it would take that long whether you've been on the pills for 6 mos or 6 years. Hope this helps!

there should be a sheet of paper with the pills that tells you all of the side effects. I highly suggest reading it because there are a lot of side effects and dangers.
You should be able to concieve after you decide to stop taking them, and a little extra protection never hurts.
