Where did all the good shows go?

There are some shows that are for some extremely odd reason aren't being released on dvd. Ally McBeal won't be released in the United States because of music rights issues, yet someone actually thinks that people want to watch Joey repeatedly. It's almost sickening. My most biggest downer that goes so far beyond disappointment that it amazes me that I'm even considering to put it into words is Wonder Years. Where is Wonder Years? No reruns. No dvds. It blows my mind. So when I'm downloading it illegally off the internet I'd like to point out that there's no other way, and that fact alone means the world must be in a really bad place. We need Wonder Years. Does anyone else even remember it? When I was little staying up till three in the morning for nothing other than to piss off my parents I would watch Wonder Years. It was a very nice alternative to the porn and infomercial's. Also, to be perfectly honest do we really need four channels of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? I enjoy my Roseanne, but it's on everywhere too. It's awesome that M*A*S*H is back, but I need my Wonder Years.

The Muppet Show was a good program. I would watch it.

This one was funded through donations and the Dept. of Education. Which these funds do not last that long. But the DVD's are available.

As for many other good, clean fun shows, they are taken off the air because as times change people want sex, drugs and murder.

My favorites I found a few months ago on DVD for cheap. They are:

    Clutch Cargo

    Casper and Friends

    Baby Huey

    Lulu

    I love Lucy

    Scooby

    The Lone Ranger

    Get Smart

    Bullwinkle and Rocky J. Squirel

    Just to mention a few.

My favorites were The Smurfs, Buster and Me, Fraggle Rock, The Muppets, Reading Rainbow,The Love Boat, Out of This World, Girl Wonder, Wonder Years, 3's Company...there are a few more but these are the only I can think of right now.

Well, the Muppet Show went off the air. You can find reruns on cable TV, possibly on Boomerang. With Jim Henson gone, Kermit D Frog has been reduced in roles. A second version of the Muppet Show had a different host...

I am partial to the original Scooby Doo series. I remember seeing the first episode broadcast on Saturday morning as well as seeing a bit of the old sneak preview!

short answer: Jim Henson wanted to move on to movies...

the ironic thing is that the original pilot for the show was intended to connect the muppets to a more adult audience. Somehow there seemed to be a bit of a backslide into the 'muppet babies' series when he died.

Source(s): Lived in town where one of Jim Henson's Wife's homes is, and the town where Frank Oz still lives. This is my first Yahoo Answer ever, but it caught my eye because I knew about it.

A great show! There are rumors that it may be brought back to TV. Also, Season 1 is available on DVD and Season 2 is supposed to be released this Fall.

Edit: Hmm, favorite show as a kid? Probably, Happy Days and Different Strokes. Favorite kids show was probably Laff-A-Lympics on ABC. I always thought ABC had the best toons (Scooby Doo, Hong Kong Phooey, Captain Caveman and Superfriends).
