What restaurant would be a good place for a very large group?
A large group of us are going to Hawaii and I'm trying to find a restaurant thats not too expensive but not incredibly cheap to hold a simple celebration, either for lunch or dinner. Nothing is finallized yet, but we pan on staying in the Waikiki area.

I like Sam Choy's Breakfast Lunch & Crab...which is not too far from Waikiki. Everyone would be able to easily find transportation from Waikiki over there (only would take about a 5 min car ride), and they have good food. Not cheap, and not expensive, while the quality of the food is good. There's a lot of different menu choices, including local-type food, and then others that have more of a "fusion" offering.

First thing do not go to Onos Hawaiian Food with a large group!! It is good for a group of 10 and its good for hawaiian food, but its not a place to celebrate. We once had a company party at Sorrentos on the Top of the Ilikai which I thought was good in Waikiki. Pagodas as another choice of celebrations as the whole restuarant is surronded by a pond with koi and ulua. Natsunoya Tea House is another personal favorite to hold group dinners. Honestly there is a lot to chose from. Depending how large your group is, what kind of food you want to eat, how much you are willing to spend, and if you are willing to travel outside of Waikiki?

Don't go to paradise burger they totally suck.... This is coming from a local... I recommend as follows; Sam Choy's , Hale Koa , Saeng's Thai Cuisine , Sergio's in the Hawaiian village , My favorite Todia on Ala moana ..awesome seafood buffet pH # 808 947- 1000 They have this really large private room ... anyway these are just a few in Waikiki walking distance from anywhere .. Have fun !!!

of course the following, i would recommend making reservations... try the Pagoda hotel buffet in the Ala Moana area , Hanaki in Manoa also has a buffet for $20, Makino Chaya has a 1 and half hour time limit, the Oceanarium in the Pacific Beach Hotel in Waikiki is also a local favorite (reasonable for the food they serve)

Go to Cheeseburger in Paradise Waikiki. Last September, a group of us went there (about 10 of us) for lunch. They have reasonably priced food and it is right on Kalakaua Ave.

I would suggest "Makino Chaya" which is located in Pearlridge shopping center, or " Todai's" in Waikiki.. Both are large buffets with a very large selection . They are ideal for large groups... HAVE A GOOD ONE!!
