    Lake Ozark?

After labor day rates or less. But attractions still open.

Everything from 1st class go karts to para sailing. Rent a larger size jet ski? Go riding on the lake together.

    Meramac State Park?

Close-stay in a motel. Do some rafting? Visit Meramac Caverns

    Katy Trail?

Numerous places to start-ride to Herman? Stay over at a b&b

    Indianapolis?

If he likes racing-tour the brickyard 500 and the race car museum

    Hannibal?

    "Tom Sawyer" sites

Take an evening ride on one of the Riverboat boats. They serve a nice dinner. Takes about 2-3hrs. Eat outside or inside.

    Just a few ideas.

Depends on how old your son is.

Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio would make for a nice road trip.... or a six flags nearby maybe?

Eureka Springs, or somewhere else in the Ozarks, sounds cool and refreshing this time of year.

check out some travel sites for last minute deals. I've seen last minute, all-inclusive trips for under $300 (try travelocity).

I'm in UK and it's years since I've been to Missouri but how about Worlds of Fun in KC?
