People in general not atheists alone, including christians?

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS!!!!!!!!!! you are so right why can't people just take responsibility for their own actions? the only thing i blame on something else is sin. sin is the cause of cancer and all other bad diseases. i can see the thumbs down coming now lol

Despite the way you phrased the question, this seems to be aimed at atheists. I have never seen a Christian blame God for their sins. You seem to be forgetting a key fact - atheists do not believe in God. The question you asked sums up precisely why I don't believe in the "faultless, perfect, all-powerful" God portrayed in the Bible, Qur'an, Torah etc. I can't blame him for my sins because I don't believe in him, and seriously, my sins are nothing compared to other stuff going on in the world. The only explanation for stuff like murder as far as God is concerned is that the all-powerful, all-loving God does not exist and we are indeed responsible for our own actions, he is not all-powerful, or he is not all-loving. And since the idea of someone controlling my life and telling me I must serve him is disturbing anyway, I'm going with the "He doesn't exist" line of argument.

As for the lake of fire thing, well, if he exists and is all-loving and all-powerful, why is he throwing people in there?

If an atheist does that it means they aren't really an atheist but rather a disgruntled theist. It is one of my quibbles with Christianity and religion that sometimes instead of relying on themselves people feel that they can call in God. I mean praying for God to favor your sports team to win!? As a nonbeliever I don't do this. I know that when something goes right its either my own good work or choices or things just working out well. When things go bad I look at myself and circumstances to analyze what went wrong or acknowledge life has ups and downs and I need to make the best. Its not about sin its about consequences of actions. I think believing in something that would throw people who didn't worship it in a lake of fire or whatever is a bit demented but I don't blame a God I don't believe exists. I don't believe in hell others can believe what they want. I think if atheists criticize this they are criticizing the belief more than God.

Most people do not blame God... they point out the inconsistencies within written texts that are claimed to BE God. Most people outside of Christianity don't blame any deity for their own actions... and this includes not blaming Satan for their own or others actions as well (Satan is called the god of this world after all). But, to show the inconsistency... I claim to be a loving, forgiving, merciful parent... at the age of 2 my child takes a candy bar that I left on the coffee table and eats it AFTER I told him not to... So, as punishment, I throw him out of the house because he disobeyed without really knowing what "disobeying" means. And then any child that my child has must be tainted because he took a candy bar that I told him not to touch. This is exactly what is written in the Bible that God did to Adam and Eve and everyone afterwards is "tainted"... Now, do you believe I am a Loving, Forgiving, Merciful parent? This is the first thing anyone reads when starting on the Bible... Now, if someone else came along, after you find out I kicked my kid out of the house for eating a candy bar I left out, and this person tells you that "Oh, Robin is a wonderful person... she loves everyone, forgives even the worst offenses and has mercy on others... she is a perfect little lady"....... would you believe it??????????????????????????

I agree, a person should take responsibility for his/her actions instead of blaming God, the Devil, and whoever else there is to blame. I'm sure that Jesus did not teach us to do this. His teaching have become so distorted it is no wonder we have so much confusion. I could on and on about that though.

Well considering there's no such thing as a god or gods, and they're just a make believe concept for the weak minded, ill informed, misled, frightened, ignorant and/or gullible, that is a very good question..

I would presume it is because people don't want to take responsibility. Look at Adam and Eve... the blame rolled down hill so to speak.

You said it,they refuse to be responsible for their actions due to fear of loss of identity and to have humiliation takes an extremely compasionate human being,one with the experiences of life enough to know it is just not worth fighting about. love and light

We been told to pray to god to help us, we been told that god helps those who believe in him. We been god ect ect ect

So when society is conditioned this way to rely on god and when things go wrong society questions god as to why it happened.

The truth of the matter is that things happen it is all part of life. No one not even a deity can control things that happen in life. People should accept it.

Because we live in a time when the name of the game is "It's Not My Fault." No matter what you're talking about, people are always looking to blame someone else for their actions instead of admitting they screwed up and accepting the consequences. Look at all the stupid lawsuits that are out there--sue the fast food places because you're fat, sue them because you were stupid enough to put a steaming hot cup of coffee between your legs while driving and got burned....

But then the whole blame game started in the Garden of Eden, when Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent.

People blame God more so when they have bad luck, not when they make dumb decisions. Or maybe they do it then too but I never really did when I was a believer in the one true and almighty master, savior, MASS MURDERER.. yes that's right. you know what i'm talking about.
