Is it not discriminatory to create a all girls school with public funds?

Dateline; San Antonio, New All Girls School with public funds!

My children are grown but I still pay taxes and I feel like if I am going to pay for children to get an education then it should not be segregated. Each child needs to earn a living. This is discriminatory, and frankly I am appalled.

Update:

I have no problem with any child getting advanced classes girl or boy. It was but just a few years ago that every female organization in the country wanted to open admission for females into every all male school in the country from private schools to colleges. Now it looks to me like the ladies want it the other way around. I don't have any grandsons but I do have two granddaughters, having said that right is right, just because you want your child to go to a all girls school is no reason for the public to pay for it.

It's a fellowship study and the monies although public funds are coming to study if separated the girls will learn better away from boys. I think they should simutaneously try another fellowship study for boys.

I remember the fellowship that started back in 1996 and ended in 2004. It was for special needs kids. It's a shame it ended because those kids really did do better in smaller environments, but due to Bush Jr.'s no child left behind act, the kids were supposed to be in the least restrictive and they felt that the fellowship was too restrictive. I know my special needs son did better with that program than when they pulled him out in 2004. then he really struggled, but he graduated finally and I don't have to deal with that anymore.

I am all for fellowship studies. I wish they would bring back trade schools for kids. My dad believed we all should learn a trade and get a college education so that we could fall back on one if the other didn't work for us. Five kids in our family 2 of my siblings have an associates, my brother and I have a masters and my oldest has a jurisdoctorate. We all have either a construction trade, sewing trade, lvn trade or automechanics trade. My youngest with the Masters is a builder and his degree was in English. So, Trades are important. But, remember, I am a Texas girl with European parents so I was taught differently from my peers.

I don't think they are intentionally discriminating. It's a known fact that many girls drop out of school and I believe they are building this school in order to encourage girls to stay in school and to give them an opportunity to excel in subjects such as math, science, and technology. I pay taxes too, and I think it's a good thing.

If you live in the San Antonio Independent School District, then I suggest if you are against an all girl school then by all means, protest it, we all have the opportunity to voice our opinions for or against anything that is going up in our communities and especially if you are paying taxes in that district.
