Bit of a tricky one which I'm sure you've guessed as you say you have no paperwork with you. I'm sure it would be expensive to find a policy whereby you can drive any car thats alot to cover for. Not an insurance expert but have found some good deals through moneysupermarket.com and always recommending them on here. Might be able to find a policy on there, might be a long shot though with such a specific policy. They've never let me down yet though. It's on http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/ :)

I thought most insurances did cover you in any car you are driving. But you said you lived in the UK that might be different. Call your local insurance company and see if there are different packages or rates to insure you in any care. You don't need your policy number when you call they should be able to look the information up when you call. I hope that helped.

Don't like to worry people, but the permission given in comprehensive policies to drive other peoples' cars, albeit with third party cover only, is usually nowadays specified as being "in an emergency" only.
Anyway, to deal with your question, it's impossible for us to give you a figure - so much depends on you, your experience, your circumstances etc. The most practical way would be for your b/f, your dad, etc. to have you named on their policies.

Its not you who has to inform your insurance company.
Its the other people who have to tell their insurnace companies that anyone can drive their cars.
Depends on the insurance companies but they will all charge you more.
Also you can still drive any body's car as long they have given you the authority but you are only insured for third party loss not the car you are driving.

they might desire to notify you formerly you coverage cancels, in spite of the fact that if it somewhat is for previous due charge. States variety, yet in missouri the insurance organization has to inform you 10 days earlier on your coverage lapsing. insurance companies do not cost interest, and maximum do not cost previous due expenses the two, so your next bill should not be adjusted. call your agent and make sure they gained your charge

Usually if you have fully comprehensive insurance on a car that you own, you will have authorisation to drive another car (not belonging to you), third party only. The same will apply to the other drivers. Their policies, should allow you to driver their vehicle, third party only, with their permission.
