I'm gettin a new motor for my camaro but i dont know if it will bolt up to my transmission?

No, you will need a v8 transmission.. The 2.8L trans has a diff bolt pattern plus smaller input shaft. Cheapest, easiest one to get and install would be a th-350, 3 speed auto

You could also get a 700R4, 4 speed auto from a stock v8 camaro/firebird..

Or a T5, 5 speed man. trans for a v8 car.. The T5 aint gonna hold up to much torque though.

If you use a th-350 trans get a "long shaft" transmission used in trucks.. It will be very close to the same lenght as yours now, and will you keep the same driveshaft

You will also need a torque arm mount kit.. The th-350's didnt come in cars with torque arms, so no place to bolt arm too.. The cheapest and easiest way would be a $80 B&M swap kit. It has a bracket to bolt to the tail shaft of trans, then TQ arm bushing goes on that bracket.. ..

Not part of your question, but I want to point out.....

You will need to change the engine mounts that are bolted to the K member in the car.. Parts stores sells them. I bought mine at Napa for $10 each when I did my swap..

Also the brake line is bolted to K member, to fit the V8 oil pan, you will need to un bolt a couple of the clamps, and slightly bend the brake line out of the way by hand.

You will need a new transmission. The bell housing will not fit the 350. Even if you got an adapter to fit the motor and trans. together, the 350 will probably rip the trans apart. Good luck.

No the 60 degree V-6 is not the same bolt pattern of the SBC, and also your clutch copenets and tranny would not stand the torque. But the good news is your half way there to row the gears when you get the V-8 tranny and bell housing

the trans you have will not stand the torque of a 350...

the best move is to install a Muncy , or Borg Warner 4 speed or a Doug Nash 5 speed

no it will not fit not even if you change the bell-housing because the input shaft diameter of the 2.8L is smaller and splined different then the clutch disc that is required to fit the V8's flywheel so you will most defiantly have to get a new tranny

I don't think it will bolt up. if you had the 3.8 or the 4.3 you would have been okay. if i remember correctly this tranny does not have a removable bell housing so yes you will need a new tranny.
