rx-350. i work at a place with alot of old. like every other car is an rx350, i hate those ridiculous trucks, they're so ugly.

old people have too much damn money...

while young people are driving these decrepid 20 year old pieces, and the old can't even enjoy a nice car! they can barely drive at all!!!!

The reason that senior citizens get discounts is generally after they retire, they are on a fixed income. They are not going to be working and earning any more money probably for the rest of their lives. Nobody said that they were poor at all, just what they have will have to last them until they pass on. They are well-financed because they have been saving for retirement since they first entered the workforce. Maybe you should stop worrying about how other people live and focus on yourself. Start putting away money so you can live like that when you're at that age too.

I think Clare has something there and she should use her mighty reasoning to bow out now. why wait? she could be hit by a car and be a burden to the rest of us tomorrow. Time to go. I 'm not sure how you mean 'do we care about the rest of society'. The problems that belong to the young are no longer of interest to me. Been there , done that. They can find their way and my answers that worked for me were of a different time with different rules. I don't need to solve the problems of the universe any more, my universe has shrunk... :) There is a time for everyone and everything.

Lazywolf, it depends on the type of job they had when they were working. Those who have transplanted themselves to the state of Florida probably saved and invested their money, so that they could live comfortably. It is not how much you have, its what you do with what you have. Then some may have had pretty good high paying jobs. But all are not in the same financial boat.

If you live long enough to be old, you will understand and appreciate the discounts just as much as they do.

I am NOT poor, do not claim to be, nor hopefully, will I ever be. !!! What I really want to know is why you give a damn if stores give me discounts? It is not money out of your pocket, they do not charge you more becaue they charge me less..it is a competitive market out their, dude! What do you propose...give discounts to those who are unwilling to work, want to laze about, not save for older age, have the latest fad electronics at all times, (I suspect you have either your hands or your eyes on an Iphone). Me...I own my home, I own 3 cars, I live in Orange County, CA., and I am happy as hell I do. AND I do not turn down discounts when they are offered. Give it a rest. I may be an old fart, but you sound like a stupid turd.!

I believe those who can afford it have paid into it. Those who cannot are the ones who really need the discounts. The government will only give u so much social security to live on after you retire. If you dont have anything like a 401k or you dont put anything into your retirment, then your going to scrape by when your older.

I can't speak for Florida, I'm in the uk but you try living on our pensions for a month then see what you think of statistics!

We had an appointment with the bank this week to make our account a joint one.

The lady asked us to give income details, which we did and then she said,

" Are you sure that's all, how do you live on that amount?"

We answered truthfully, "with great difficulty!"
