How do it set up a trust fund in my mothers memory?

I have a medical Ltd company in UK. and would like to set up a trust fund in memory of my mother to help others who suffered the same condition she had. I have a product (I own the patent etc) to control stress incontinence - been successful at clinical trials - women no longer need surgery and it is strenghtening the pelvic muscles at the same time as instant control. The only re-usable device available.

What do you actually want to do as you are mentioning setting up a fund in your mother's memory as well as selling your invention.

In order to set up a trust fund in your mother's memory, you need a solicitor to draw up the trust deed and you will need 2-3 trustees to administer it. If the object of the trust is to raise money for sufferes from stress incontinence, it will be charitable in law and if the income of the trust exceeds £5000 in any one year, then you will have to register with the Charity Commission.

You also have the option of covenanting the profits from your company to the Trust - this would make them free of Corporation Tax - but that is obviously your decision. If you did this, you could not be a trustee of the trust as there would be a conflict of interest there. Otherwise, I am not sure what relationship you were thinking of between your company and the trust.

As you must know you need to set this up with the help of a lawyer. Is there anything that can be done alone these days. I hope you have a patent on your device.

why set up a trust fund? why not put u p a foundation? with a foundation people sharing the same sentiment as you can donate money and further help your cause. whereas a trustfund its just sitting there.
