Priest Holmes payola. would you take it?
One of my fav. all-time RB's has been cleared to play this season. When he got injured a few seasons back, i remember asking around on how bad his injury was and the majority of the responses were: If he plays, he might die. he had a spinal nerve injury right(i forget)? now he's ready to play again. So my question is this. If you were the team doctor and his health results were border-line, would you sign that piece of paper allowing priest to play, if he handed you an envelop with 30 large in it? remember, you may be a league/team scapegoat if something terrible were to happen to him. or ask for more money, even tho you'd be a doctor wuth an already high-salary
yeah, he could afford 100, but i dont wanna bleed a guy i look up to. in retrospect, i think true football players would think it would be an honor to die on the field

I like your philosophy and can appreciate this question. I think the doctor would possibly do it but most team physicians are not going to do that. Especially for only 30 Large. I would think maybe $250 Large would be what it would take to buy someone up like that.

He might just be in camp to get his salary, because he is not doing any contact drills. I hope he plays again, but I think he just wants put back on the PUP list to collect his money. I don't blame him though if they are willing to do it. He is forcing LJ's hand because LJ knows he is a better all-around back. Lj hates to be overshadowed so I am all behind Priest showing him up. Hopefully they will keep Priest on the payroll thats a good excuse to use to not pay LJ. We are paying Priest as a top tier running back and he deserves it because he is a stand up guy.

If it's really that serious I would hope that Priest would value his life and his family more than the game. I mean I know that to a lot of people who are professional athletes it is a good portion of their life, but you have to retire sometime, and I think he should prefer to want to take a long vacation to somewhere nice than a permanent dirt nap.
So, I would obviously hope the doctor would regard Priests life as more valuable than some amount of money to, so no I would obviously not do it.

Putting the money aside, I think it would be a hard decision to make as a Doctor. If its boarder line and Priest himself comes to you wanting to play then I say you sign it. Priest is an adult and knows the consequences of what could happen to him.

Sorry. the answer is no. 30 large? that's all? He's made tons of money. the POSSIBILITY of him being injured permanently is, I think, Higher. I'm going to err on the side of 'covering my backside'. Personal opinion: He won't play a down. Just an opinion and I'd really like to be proved wrong.

Why, that would violate the Hippocratic Oath. Besides, 30 large isn't that much in the world they live in, Priest could probably afford 100,00.
