Frontline?? Flea Killer?
Hi I put frontline on my cat last week (it is supposed to be fantastic) but I checked him last night with the flea comb and he had fleas still on him, does it take a while to work? the house is flea less by the way, constantly hoovering and spraying the flea stuff.
I have a large dog, I put frontline on him too and when I check him he is completely free of them and his sores are totally healed where he had scratched so hard when he had them
My cat is very independant and rarely comes in the house, he comes in at tea time for food and a cuddle then he's off again, he only comes in the kitchen, never the rest of the house.

Frontline will kill any fleas that are on/or gets on the animal within 24 hours. Frontline however does not repel fleas, it just kills them. If the area your animal is living is still has fleas you need to treat the area as well. Wash any bedding the cat sleeps or lays on. Bomb your house... flea bomb - not regular bomb... that would be bad - but hey atleast it would kill the fleas! :) Anyway, you can also try treating your yard with Benifical Nematodes. Once you've done all that it just takes a while to break down the flea cycle. Stick with it, the Frontline is the best product out there!

Hi,The first thing that I want to say is, the woman who says the fleas have to to bite then the frontline works is INCORRECT !!!!!!!!!!! It stays on the cats skin, that's why it's effective quickly. It clearly says this in big letters on the leaflet. These people that keep saying this make me mad they obviously have never used the stuff !!!!!!!!!! Anyway are you making sure that it all goes onto only the cats skin ? I could not get rid of the fleas on my kitten a month , since using this i haven't seen any at all,i have found it brilliant. Two other brands that are recommended by vets are "advantage" and " stronghold ". I also used two bob martin flea bombs a month ago and this has got rid of them, one of these will completely fumigate a room.

$30-35 for a box of three applications, lasts 3 months (you don't say what size your dogs are, it goes by weight) One thing you can to to reduce the price, is buy a 3-pack for larger size dogs (usually only $1-2 more) then divide it between the two dogs. That way a 3-pack becomes six applications. You also need to treat the environment as fleas and the eggs drop off. Vacuum frequently, wash their bedding and dry it in the dryer as heat kills the eggs. There are flea bombs you can set off, if you get one of these pull the cushions out of the couches and chairs so the mist gets down in there good. Also there are insecticides you can spread on your lawn, but those do kill beneficial bugs as well. There is also a pill called Capstar which is available at your vet and runs $3-4 which kills every flea on the animals; unfortunately it is a onr-shot thing and they begin picking the fleas up again after 24 hours.

If your cat had a heavy infestation, chances are some eggs/larvae are hatching out. Continue to comb your cat,as this helps to remove any remaining larvae.Remember to wash ALL your pets bedding. Do not repeat dosage unless advised by your vet. Place any fleas and animal hair into a bowl of warm water, (this drowns them)then flush down the toilet, followed by a cleaning with bleach. Never use Frontline on white/predominately white cats of dogs as it burns them.

Did you use the spray or pipettes? I have used Frontline on my cats for years and it has always been brilliant. I wondered if you had used the spray if maybe you had miscalculated the weight of your cat as it is administered by spraying the amount of sprays per kg of bodyweight.
The only other explanation is that maybe the Frontline was out of date???
I can't think of anything else as I have always had such positive results with Frontline but I use the pipettes that you squeeze onto the back of your cat's neck and is in a measured dose.
If the fleas persist, see your vet for advice.
Good Luck, fleas are a nuisance. I sympathise.

If you had a pet with fleas in the house, you are naive to think your house is totally without fleas. Vacuuming and using flea powder helps, but there are flea eggs in places you couldn't possibly imagine to reach.
Have faith, the fleas you find on your pet ARE dying, but there ARE still fleas in his environment. Give it a week or two and you will notice a vast difference. In a couple months, after all the flea eggs have hatched and died after jumping on your cat, your house will truly be flea-free.

The fact that your cat goes outside is why he still gets fleas. It's impossible to get rid of them because he will keep reinfecting himself if you don't keep him inside. The other possibility is that what you are finding with the flea comb is not fleas but flea dirt. It looks like tiny black dots and many people confuse this with fleas. It is actually the feces left behind by the fleas. A good bath should get rid of any flea dirt.

Hi, Frontline is really good, it must be that your cat is coming in contact with other cat's that have fleas, but once the fleas bite your cat ; the fleas will die.

when you put it on your cat, it has to actually make contact with the skin, (behind the neck is a great spot to put it on) just putting it on the fur is not enough. once you got that right it should take from 1 to 3 days to actually work, and remember the fleas may have laid eggs, so you have to keep checking for that, im sure your vet would suggest a great flee shampoo to loosen the eggs which will make it easier to comb them out, but your doing a great job checking your cat every few days (keep that up until your sure they're gone). good luck

Dog fleas and cat fleas are different creatures. Frontine does work. the one dogs willnot necessary work on cats. Take a vets advice. On the other hand if the infestation is great the longer it will take to work. Repeat every five weeks whether there are fleas or not. I use Front on my cats and have no problem. Have you tried flea collars?
