Another question for muslims, about idolatry?

if photos are considered idolatry, then are animals figurines the same?

and should they be removed from the home completely or hidden from sight?

( I have souveniers and gifts that I have been informed are considered idolatry for muslims) This is a serious question.

Pictures themselves, not intented for worship are not considered idolatry, but they are haram (prohibited). It's debatable whether photos are haram or not, some photos (like for documents) are definitely necessary. I myself don't consider photos haram although I used to, I haven't changed my stand on that as photos portray Allah's creation exactly the way it is, but there are differences in opinion on photography, most Saudi scholars as well as those of Deobandi svhool consider unnecessary photography haram.

Figures and statues as well as art paintings of living beings are haram by consensus of scholars, the only disputable thing is photography.

look budso, why don't you ask yourself whether a God, as great as he is in religions including Islam, is going to hold you having pictures and statues in your house against you? do you really believe that he's going to punish you for having these things? c'mon, that would be one petty God.

when muslims go to the kaaba, they kiss and touch the "blackstone". isn't that idolatry? what about the fact that the kaaba itself, a building, is worshiped as well? that is the height of irony, isn't it, that the holiest site in islam is a stone! people push and shove each other jsut to get a glimpse of the stone.

and what about writing? images are simply a form of expression, as is the written word. writing is also technically a form of imagery. that would mean writing is also unislamic.

  • Yeah, statues and stuff are not allowed, even of animals.
