how much do you normaly spend on 12 year old girls going into the 7th grade on school clothes?

Well I don't have an exact dollar amount but as she's only 12 she's probably still growing, so you probably shouldn't buy anything too expensive. I'd buy cheaper clothes so that she can have more clothes instead of buying more expensive clothes that she'll grow out of anyway, that way when she does get sick of them or grows out of them, it won't hurt your wallet too much. =]
I think a few bottoms/jeans and a week or two's worth of tops would suffice, and shoes, and whatever underwear she needs. So probably it would be anywhere between $150 [at a real minimum] to like $350. I really wouldn't spend more than $350-400 on a growing preteen girl, especially when the things in the stores right now will be "out of style" like within the year.
Some good, cheaper stores that you or she might be interested in: Forever 21, Aeropostale, Wet Seal, JC Penney, Kohl's
For more of a budget: Abercrombie Kids or Abercrombie & Fitch [depending on her size], American Eagle, Delias, Hollister, PacSun.

We budget $400 per school year.
Between $175 and $200 dollars when shool starts, not including backpack and supplies. She will need:
5 pairs of pants at approx $20 each = $100
tennis shoes at $25
socks and underwear at $25
5 blouses/tops at $5-$10 =$25 - $50
When fall/winter comes, you will need to spend about another $100 on sweaters/jackets/gloves/hats/winter clothes and depending on how fast she's growing, maybe replace shoes and pants at another $50 or $60.
Whatever is left of the budget (usually $40-$65 for us) get spent in the spring on spring shirts, replacing socks/underwear, and replacing shoes again.

Depends, have a budget in mind that is reasonable for you financially, tell her that you will take her to pick stuff out and she has X amount to spend keep the number a bit lower than you have so that you can splurge on a few items if she sticks to her budget. You can get away with having many different pieces that all work with each other to create many outfits. also depends on what she has already.
Personally I would not spend more than 300.00 total and even that is alot!! Christmas is just around the corner . :)
Heck my mom always gave me 100 bucks and said were going to goodwill LOL , So it really depends on your situation
Hope this helps

dont buy a whole new wardrobe before school starts, just buy a couple of key items like jeans, shoes, maybe a few tops then wait a week or two. You'll want to see what other people are wearing so that you dont look exactly like someone else, but you will also be able to get some ideas from friends.
Maybe $100- 250 split between two trips.

Depends on if she outgrew last year's clothes.
If she did, $350.
If not, $200.
Let them learn how to budget. You can get quite a bit if you know what to do with that. Kids that age normally wear T-shirts and jeans anyways.
It's better to shop for them when there is a clearance. Usually twice every year, stores will clear out their items. You can get a lot more clothes for a lot cheaper. That's when I load up on clothes.

My mom would always try to buy me 5 new outfits, new socks and underware, and a new pair of tennis shoes. Not too much. But going back to school in new clothes was sooo exciting!

I used to get $50-$100, just depending on how much money we had at the time.

i never really had to buy school clothes for my kids because i got them clothes year round so they had plenty and nothing was worn out when school started....i would guess if i had to buy their clothes at one time it would run around a grand for three teens

not too much, remember that she's still a kid and stuff happens.. just a department store (ross, kohls, target), and maybe as a reward, take her to gap kids for something nice (for a 12 year old)... i wouldn't spend too much until she stops growing :P
