How much money to spend on my son-in-law's gifts?
I spend about $250 each on my children at Christmas and for their birthdays we take the family out to dinner and then spend about $100 for their gift. I am not sure how much to spend on my son-in-law in comparison? We do take the family out to dinner on his birthday, but how much to spend on the gifts? I don't want to spend the same, but I feel cheap spending less. Any suggestions?
I have two daughters. Neither of them (the wife or the single daughter) think that I should spend the same on him as I do on them.
His parents treat him, my daughter and their other son badly.

Hmmm...I spend the same amount on my son-in-law as I do on my daughter who is married to him...but then I consider him a family member.

I easily have 9 brothers and sister, 5 nieces, a million nephew, 4 babies, husband, mom, father, 2 brother in rules, 3 sister in rules,10 close pals that i purchase for each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, I start up in might/June time and in many cases spend £10 according to individual a week, A $10 present card is positive yet might properly be alittle disappointing, only attempt beginning early, least that way you're able to need all of it achieved earlier Christmas so which you would be able to then take a seat back, relax with a cuppa and selfmade cookie ;o) such as provides for my babies I in many cases spend around £600 - £800 each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and then £800 - £1000 on foodstuff and alcohol

I don't understand, evidently you don't consider your son in law "one of the family". You should spend the same on him as you do everyone else. You shouldn't slight him, he'll eventually feel it.

I would treat him the way i wanted him to treat my daughter. also think how would you like his parents to treat her, in comparison to how they treat him. I would just do a golden rule. if its obvious your not spending as much on him, it could cause problems in between you and your daughter in the future,
