How well do you get along with your in laws?

In my current relationship I get along ok with my in laws. They are not married anymore so if I see one, I don't usually see the other one.

My FIL kinda creeps me out a little and he has a problem with stretching the truth and telling fibs from time to time.

My MIL is opinionated at times but we get along ok. (as long as we don't talk politics or religion, we're ok) lol

Ok, how long do ya have for a story tonight? I could tell ya a great one about mine... Oh, I'm in a happy mood, if I even get started on this subject I'll be in a crabby mood... She just has that effect on me! Ok, in short, caught mom in law smoking - not cigarettes - while my kids were there. "In a different room" so you know, that makes it all ok - uh-hu... So huge fight between the two of us, didn't talk for months, now she pretends nothing happened, but I don't! Hmmm, she's 3 times divorced too. Wow! Wonder why???

That depends. How drunk am I in your scenario?

Sorry honey! Just kidding! We get along great! Uh, yeah.

But seriously, we didn't get along at first because I was the guy who took their little baby. But over the years it got better.

That is until one day when I decided I couldn't take my mother in law treating me like a moron any more and let her have it verbally. It was a nose to nose screaming match, with the whole family watching on.

That was three years ago. We are doing better now, but it's still kind of tense at times.

Oh and by the way, never, never, never, never let your in laws float the loan for a house or car! It WILL come back to bite you in the rear! We've made that mistake twice. Even if they don't mean to they will hold it over your head that you couldn't get it any other way.

    But I'm not bitter.

Get along OK with my MIL. It was rough at first but now it is better. Over time I found things she enjoys so when we are together try to so those things with her such as garden, recipes, flowers, help her take care of her plants, take her out to eat, send her cards and never talk bad about her son to her or tell her about a problem/issue we are dealing with.

fil: we get along ok, he's kinda demanding of ppl tho

mil: we cant be left in the same room alone. she's still hung up on the fact that she's not the #1 female in her sons life anymore, even tho we've been together for 10 years. Im glad she lives on the opposite side of the country

I get along great with my in-laws. My MIL has been like a mom to be and I'm very thankful for her and her family accepting me into their family with open arms.

I get along great with mine. They treat me like on of the family. They're helpful but don't meddle. I think alot of them

My MIL thought I was a snob when she first met me

and she didn't like me because I didn't like basketball

I think she thought her son was too good for me, but we're cool now.

Much better now, since I stopped speaking to them after the divorce!

I love them because I respect them very much for who they are as individuals, not because I'm "supposed" to.
