Gateway Computer Not Reading Hard Drive?
Ok,so i have this older gateway (not sure model)
but it needed a new hard drive so i put one in and it read it fine
then i put it in another computer which also read it
then i put it back into the gate way and the gateway doesnt read it anymore
it is only a additional 20gb additon to the original
can some one plz help me like Asap

ive had that happen before ...take it out and look at the label .. write down the drive parameters for cylinders heads and watnot ... put it in the machine and boot into bios settup and look at the drive under manual .. if the parameters dont match then enter them to match ..

I am assuming that you put it into the other PC to download some info. I am also assuming that this hard drive came with a disc (software). Try reformatting the harddrive and reinstaling it back into the gateway.

Your video ribbon is probably on backwards, the red line on the side denotes the power side and can be put on backwards.
Or, you can hit F-1 as your machine boots up, make your HDD the first boot device.

If the stress is regarded in BIOS, you'll be ok. obtain a replica of MSdos, Freedos or Seatools etc. Set desirable boot precedence (to CDROM or Floppy) and repartition the stress utilising FDISK or equivalent menu decision as quickly as booted. p.c. 32bit (or NTFS) while reformatting. put in your OS CD and all could be properly. verify you reset boot precedence to HD as quickly as OS put in.
