1.5*x+7*y=74.50
13=x+y y=13-x
1.5x+(7)(13-x)=74.5
x=3 = (peanuts)
y=10 = fancy nuts

x pounds of peanut and y pounds of fancy nuts.
x+y=13 --- (1)
1.50x+7y=74.50 --- (2)
from (1) , y=13-x
so, (2) becomes 1.50x+7(13-x)=74.50
1.50x+91-7x=74.50
-5.50x=74.50-91
-5.50x=-16.5
x=16.5/5.5=3 pounds of peanut
from (1) y=10 pounds of fancy nuts
check: 3(1.50)+10(7)=4.50+70=$74.50
