All Quiet on the Western Front was possibly the most censored film in history. It's actually still banned in quite a few countries. even by todays standards of war films, its by far the best ever made. very realistic and gruesome in its battle sequences, it also gives a very in depth looks at the psychological effects of combat and the ideological standing of their leadership and the people back home. It's such a pinnacle of anti-war films, and the first to be made, that many countries feel it'll turn their soldiers and citizens into war weary cowards years before combat even took place.

Source(s): I have the movie on DVD and i've read the book about a dozen times, as well as written a thesis on its international impact, pulling my english grade from a D to an A-.
