Phil Rizzuto died?

I just read it on Yahoo sports, but don't see it anywhere else. Great Yankee, even though his numbers don't jump off the page one bit.

Yeah one of the best defensive shortstops ever.....hes got some terrible offensive stats for a hall of famer though by todays standards....but i don't think 5'6" / 93 lb phil was on the juice. If he was, hoooly cow he hid it well.

Sadly, our beloved Scooter has passed away. He was a good person as well as a great shortstop. Rizzuto will always be missed. I have changed my screen name to yankees10 in tribute to him. He was a great announcer as well. I had a great time listening to him. Yankee fans should always remember the Scooter. R.I.P. (1917-2000).

Yes it so sad. I loved listening to him while he had broadcasted on channel 11 doing the Yankee games. Seeing him doing the Money Store commercials, and yoo- hoo.

    RIP Scooter.

His death is just something you never wanted to hear. :(
