i dont see why you would install xp over vista! But anyway, it might be that because it is a major type of computer that only runs the operating system that it came with.

You need to provide the driver diskette for the windows loader so it recognises the hard disk interface.

Your hard disk is running a non-common (well, non-common as far as Microsoft XP is concerned) interface... when you boot the XP install CD it allows you to press F6 to load an extra SCSI driver. For Windows, all disks are SCSI (I know, it's IDE or SATA really, but that's Microsoft).

You need to find the diskette image of the driver (try HP's website) and feed it to Windows during the install process.

If you can't find the driver, you're a bit stuck. If you bought your PC without a floppy disk you're a bit stuck. the process *requires* the driver to be on floppy disk A. No choice. I hit this piece of stupidity installing XP in vmware... but at least vmware let me pretend the image file was a floppy disk.

each from time to time in the adventure that your hardware won't help xp. an incredible style of the hot desktops are put in with vista basically hardware. to make certain you may set up XP, write down all your hardware aspects: hard disk drive, motherboard, portraits card, etc. Then seek for those products in google making use of: (your hard disk drive) xp driving force you like each and all the drivers to exact set up XP. i could additionally seek: (your hp laptop type) set up XP. This seems to work out if somebody already has put in XP and what issues they have bumped into.
