What is a good summer program where I go from America to Spain for a few weeks?

I prefer something that involves me possibly living with a host family, or maybe in dorms or something like that. A friend and I want to go the summer of 2008. Something that has a lot of freedom would be nice, I will be 17 so I want to explore Spain with my friend and on my own schedule. If you don't know about a program like this, any idea where else I can inquire?

    Check out www.nacelopendoor.org, www.afs.org

At 17, you're much too young and inexperienced to explore Spain on your own. You need to stay with a host family.

I'm not that familiar with programs for high school students/recent grads, but it would be worthwhile to check out STA Travel (www.statravel.com) and they will advertise different companies that offer language and cultural immersion programs. Even though it is summer, stop by your local high school guidance office. Even though they don't advertise it, guidance counselors receive brochures for the exact type of program you are thinking of, just ask to look through what they have, or even ask the high school Spanish teacher. Some specific orgs to look at, The Rotary Foundation (youth exchanges) or People to People. Otherwise, just search the web.

17-years-old and wants lots of freedom. Even wants to explore Spain with just a friend (of the opposite sex, no doubt).

    Recipe for disaster.
