What kind of food could I serve ???

It´s a shark theme party for a 5 yr old.... I need to feed about 100 to 150 people, these are both kids of varied ages and adults...

I´m going with the theme... I can most of the time give advice to other people, but when it comes to me.... I get brain freeze... so any ideas???

And I am always on a budget.... a low one...

How about deviled eggs? Get a red sauce and sprinkle it on them then carve a shark out of a peeled squash. Put a deviled egg in it's mouth covered with sauce. Make grilled tuna fish sandwiches for the kids, cut them up to look like fish. Get some goldfish crackers and put them in a cheese ball. For adults make some grilled tuna sandwiches. Maybe some shrimp chips and seaweed snacks.

For dessert get some blue ice cream and put some jelly fish in them. Put a rubber duck or a toy boat in the punch bowl.

  • A fun dessert would be Jaws Jello

You can get gummy sharks and fish from candy stores or even online at http://www.candywarehouse.com/sharksassorted.html but also many candy stores and even some bulk food sections of regular grocery stores have fish and shells and sharks.

Mix 3-4 gallons of blue jello with bunches of gummi fish and sharks and serve in clear plastic cups. Just be sure to mix the gummi sharks and stuff in at the last minute or they make the sea blue jello weird colors. You can usually find jello in large tins for much cheaper at restaurant supply stores like cash and carry.

    Have fun!

You're on a budget and you invited 150 people over for a five year old's birthday party? What will you do when he's six?

Anyway, since you asked...you need tropical beach food. And beachy decorations. And a shark pinata. And fake Jimmy Buffett shark fin hats. Maybe leis.

Order a big sandwich from subway. A couple of eight footers should do the trick. Maybe a pot of chicken noodle soup as well. Or you could go with mostacholli, bread, and salad. Or an all appetizer meal, chicken wings, bbq tiny hotdogs, chips, dip. If all else fails, go with pizza

    Checked out some web sites:

The first has some awesome ideas for food and games.

    http://www.kids-birthday-party-guide.com/shark-bir...

The second is well documented with links.

Personally I'd be inclined to have a "sea weed" stew using finely chopped chicken with chicken broth celery, cilantro, onions, carrots, olive oil spices, various size cooked sea shell pastas.

Cook the pastas separately (different cooking times) add to chicken broth soup. Cast Iron wash pot-- look, hanging on tripod over log fire. serve with soup ladle.

Shredded cheese, pepper mill, salt to top sea weed stew.

Various crackers, serve the gold fish ones in a number of brandy sniffer containers spread out on the table.

Love the idea of shark or shark bite cookies, you could make your own.

Could add "Beach Grass" Spinach dip for appetizer with celery and zucchini chips as well as crackers or corn chip scoops.

Green "Ocean Water" Punch. Serve out of a barrel.

Nice big iced flat sheet cakes, Ice blue with shell borders, some little sharks swimming of course, could even add a boat or two.

The stuff underneath the ocean sea foam icing is the ocean floor or you might ask if your guests want a serving of sand of course.

And of course you've got to have a chunk of an "ICE Burg" vanilla ice cream to go with the ocean. Scoop out ahead of time or cut blocks and freeze. Pull out just before use. Might could buy some of those big commercial buckets of ice cream to use. Serve out of decorated styro ice burg container.

Make some of those deserted island ragged signs with the names on them of course.

Shells and nets and fish decor. or photo spot.

Source(s): Did a little research and some ideas of my own.

use crackers for kids and make little faces on them with things u have for use and can be edible for kids (cheese i guess) maybe have jello shaped just like something related to the water(fish?) and for drinks, try using ice cubes with flavor in them(strawberry, apple etc) i did it once and the party turned out great

I think you could try to get shark and fish shaped cookie cutters and use them to cut sandwiches, cookies and jello. Use seashell pasta to make a pasta salad. Goldfish crackers.
