When you mail a package from the USA to Australia, is there a tax that will need to be paid by the person who?

receives it?

    In some cases when you mail a package from the US to Australia you may have to pay several things. Recently I mailed a package from the US to my home in Oz and I had to pay over $450 in different fees, quarantine fees, general sales tax, I can't remember them all off the top of my head.

    Postage is postage, tax is tax. Unless they purchased an item that would be taxable in the place they live, there is no tax.
