Ok I gave in my two weeks yesterday but.....?

my boss would like me to stay. She said that I am an excellent worker. My reason for leaving is the way managment handles things in our dept. I am at my wits end. I am not sure if I should stay or go. The pay is good and the insurance is not bad but the environment here really bites and how they go about things.

I have found that anywhere you work there is someone...mgmt, another employee, a customer....that will drive you crazy from time to time. You will probably deal with some of this even if you move companies.

Ask yourself...do you like what you do (not considering the others in the dept right now) just your work...do you enjoy it?

If the answer is yes....you have a rare opportunity to make your department better. Since you are already leaving and your boss is asking you to stay, he/she is giving you the chance to talk. Tell your boss you like the work, the company, the benefits, but you are frustrated when......"this"....(give an example of some of the bigger issues here). I wish I knew what some of the issues were to help you 'word smith' it a bit....but you might find that your boss would be willing to work on some changes since you are a valuable member of the team.

I'm not sure how many different places you've worked but there are always going to be negatives where ever you go. You need to seriously weigh the good and the bad. Are the issues you have with management directed at you or are you seeing things through another person's eyes. Sometimes we let what our co-workers think and feel affect our opinions. A lot of times a poor work environment is due to a conflict between a manager and one or two subordinates which affects everyone in the work place. if this is the case you need to learn to ignore those issues and focus on what you have control over, yourself.

Ask why she wants you to stay and tell her that if you are such as asset to the company then some things need to change around the office/department if you are going to stay. Perhaps even ask for a raise to get you to stay. Remember though, if none of this works out you are best off leaving. There is nothing more unhealthy (mentally, and at times physically) then having to go to a job you despise every day.

See if you can open a line of communication about the internal politics. Unless you already have something lined up, keep in mind that the grass is not always greener on the other side. You may get to the new job and find a similar or worse situation.

Really talk to your boss about what it is that is bothering you. If you are honest, they will either understand and try to fix the problem OR they will tell you that nothing is going to change. If they say that they will not work to change things, then tell them you are off to find a better company! There are lots of jobs out there!

Of course she wants you to stay and is willing to SAY whatever she needs to for you to stay with the company.

What is she willing to DO the make you stay with the company? Increased pay? Increased vacation?

Even if you gave your 2 weeks and they convince you to stay, it is often a bad idea to take a counter offer to stay as the company will then know that it isn't a bad idea to replace an employee who could just 'up and quit' on them.

Do you have another job lined up with benefits as good or better than the ones you have now? If not, stay where you are until you secure a new position. Don't cut your nose off to spite your face.

If your that unhappy it's time to move on. Why put yourself through the same frustration day after day? Look for a situation that's a better "fit".

don't quit until you find something else. Just because you have a job doesn't mean you can't look for another one. Stay at your job so you can keep a paycheck while you look for another job.

How about secure your position, find another job before you go. Make sure you r not going 2b hurt financially.
