HELP ASAP! Fish giving birth! What do we do??

Apparently my platy is giving birth , because we've found 4 baby fish (it's 10:10 p.m. CST)! What do we do? There are only the 2 platies and a small clown pleco in the tank besides the babies. Do we separate the babies out into their own bowl for, or move everyone but babies and mom? Need answers ASAP because I don't want the babies to get eaten!!

Thanks!!!

Update:

I'm all for putting them in their own container. How do we go about doing that? It's not like we can net them out. They're too small. Do they have any special needs like a heater or a filter?

hey you need to get a baby box at the nearest store or fish mart or u will have no baby's left but for now find a piece of pl ex glass or a a small piece of cardboard to separate the babies from the mom but if u do put thee cardboard in don't leave it n very long or u will have a bigger problem so if u have a old lid form a butter bowl or a storage bowl cut to size an separate the mom and the baby's

Eventually the platys will seek out their own fry and fi they catch them they'll eat them. If you intend on keeping most of your fry i'd suggest separating them. Since it is last minute, just get a container and treat the water, add some of the water from the platy aquarium and aerate it. then move the babies there..

An easier way would be to move the female into a temporary birthing tank, at least til she's done then move her back.

    Good luck

ok quick! take mother out of tank!! she'll try to eat the babies after awhile!! feed the baby fish the same fish u u give the mom but smash it up a bit, after the baby fish have grown to be around half the moms size then they can be together

In 6 months you are going to have more fish than you know what to do with. Enjoy the headaches that are coming.
