Why doesn't diet soda work to lose weight?

I have heard this a couple of times, and it seems to be true in my life. I know it can't actually make you lose weight, but since you are replacing regular soda and sweet tea with it (which is what i've done) why doesn't it help?

the sweet taste is still sending signals to your brain to release insulin. insulin blocks the use of stored fat and promotes fat storage.

    2 reasons:

    A. People are under the misconception

that just because it says "diet" on the label that it means they could consume more of it than the regular

types of liquids/fluids they are replacing it with.

    B. People are also under the false impression that a diet drink means that this drink will place them on a diet-it doesn't.

And in addition to drinking a "proportion size" amount

of diet soda one would need to incorporate a balanced food diet and exercise regularly. These are the only

    components, shy of surgery, which

    substantiate successful weight loss

    directives.

Music forces you to eat more. According to research by the journal Psychology and Marketing, soft, classical tunes encourage one to take time over your dinner, so you consume more foods. So, switch off – silence will always make you more aware of what you’re setting up your mouth.

Buy smaller plates. Little crockery means portion control is quite a bit easier – those diminutive portions suddenly look huge and you’ll be happier to use less.
