I don't think a 6-year old can really play any of those consoles, but the DS and Wii would be better suited for younger audiences. DS is the best handheld system available, and the Wii has a variety of kid-friendly games. Playstation and Xbox are mainly for more serious gamers, though the PS2 and the original Xbox would be cheaper.

I would get either a PS2 or 360 because I already have a wii and a regular xbox. For a six year old I would suggest either a wii or PS2. He will find the wii to be very fun because of the realness it brings to playing the games. However some of the games can be a little tricky to controll so if he isnt very good at following directions or reading or being patient then I would suggest a PS2.

for a 6 year old son you should get a wii for a home console or the ds for a portable system. i have the wii and ds and played the xbox 360 and playstation 3. the ps3 and 360 are for older gamers

PS2 for sure.

They have many great games suitable for all ages, the controls aren't that difficult to memorize, and it is reliable and easy to use. Don't be turned off by the fact that the PS3 is out, there are still great games out that's really, really fun.

get him a wii. its the cheapest and has the most kid-friendly games. playstaion and xbox are aimed more at the teen to adult age group (killing games are way too graphic for 6 year olds!)
