A question for Madden (the game) fans...?

My nephew's looking into trying out one of the Madden games now that he's developed an interest in American football. The thing is that he doesn't own a XBox 360 or a PS3, so I'm looking to get him one of the older versions of the game for the PS2 from a game store. I've never really dabbled much with the Madden games so I'm bit clueless in this department.

My question is this: Which year should I buy for him? Is there any particular year that's better than the other on the PS2?

    just buy the newest version out there for the PS2. it will be up to date with players and strategies. so he'll also learn more about the league and players while playing.

    Get 08' if not there get 07. BTW 08 would be more expensive than 07
