Does anyone actually know how F1 is governed, or do they just guess?

Judging by the things people say, they appear to know nothing about motor-sport and F1 in particular.

Good point!! I've been an F1 fan for 30 years and it seems to me that Bernie Eccleston and Max Moseley run the show! I know the FIA are the ruling body but Bernie and Max just seem to tell them what to do!!

FIA-The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, commonly referred to as the FIA, is a non-profit association established on June 20, 1904 to represent the interest of motoring organisations and motor car users.

The question that needs asking is "Do we need to?"

For us only the rules are visible and IMO that would suffice to watch, enjoy and discuss the sport of F1. The governance of a body need not be a concern for us, but it would be more fruitful if the rules and rulings are known.

"What" is more important, not "How".

It's not that hard to find the official information on this. But the way things are, there are always lots of murky, secret deals going on.

So, no, nobody really knows everything, except Bernie may be.
