How do I potty train my 5 month old Bichon to go in the same place all the time (indoors)?

He's a 5 month old Bichon and we've been having some difficulty with getting him to go consistently in the same place. As far as going number 2, he's very consistent. He doesn't have accidents, but getting him to pee in the same place is so hard. We have pee-pee pads for him and reduced his living quarters til he gets it right, but he still has accidents. If the number of accidents were less than the consistencies, then it would be okay seeing as I know he's improving, but it's not. When we're not home, he does go in the right place because he has nowhere else to go but there. But when we are home, and he's roming around following me, he goes wherever. Footnote: he is very smart as he's trained with everything else, but I've heard Bichon's in particular are reluctant to be house broken. Also, we just got another puppy, but this problem was already there before we got the other pup. Thanks everyone!

The best idea is to kennel train or crate train him, you shouldn't train him it is ok to potty in the house. Once he learns this behaivor it will be hard to over come, start out the right way. Remeber he is a puppy and does not have a great deal of bladder control and needs to be taken outside once every 2 to 3 hours. Also, get him on a feeding schedule, he should only need to potty about an hour after eating or drinking.....
