Do you have tax-free weekend in your state?

How does it work in your state?

Over here where I live in Texas, we have tax-free weekend where people can buy things for back to school (school supplies, clothing) and it's tax-free. Our tax free weekend was this past weekend. It lasted for 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In SC it's always the first weekend in August, Friday - Sunday. It's really weird, though, how they determine what is tax free. For instance, computers are tax free, but printers aren't. It's supposed to be for school supplies, but it includes some odd things, like wedding dresses. It's not really worth the hassle of fighting the crowds unless you're buying a big-ticket item, like a computer.

I live in Oklahoma, and we had our first statewide tax free weekend about three weeks ago. I live in a community with an 8% tax, and it was good to not have to worry about that for a change.

Of course, if I still lived in Massachusetts, I'd be in New Hampshire shopping for all that stuff and more. New Hampshire has no sales tax.

I was in NC when they had their tax free weekend. It's on anything school related. It was also for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Really I didn't think I saved that much. I think it was more hype than anything.

Almost the same here in Alabama, but there is a cap on what you can purchase.(I think its five hundred). I don't really think the crowds are worth the spare change. And my mind is suspicious enough untill I believe that the sales would not be as good on this weekend.

Yes. I'm in Oklahoma and we had ours a few weeks ago on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It was so busy at the mall, it was like Christmas.

Yes I think all states do. Perhaps at different times though.

In Alabama it was a few weeks ago and it worked the same way.
