Why are the twisty ties that are tied around loafs of bread different colors?
I purchased a loaf of bread yesterday and I noticed that it had a white tie on it...Well there was a loaf next to it with a yellow tie on it and I've also seen blue....So what do the colors mean....They all were the same brand and had the same dates on them...Do you know what the colors mean?

i cant believe some of the rude answers you have gotten. however some people have answered correctly. i found this article on an ebay forum i hope it helps. (im not sure why wednesday is not included)
When you buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the
freshest? Many people "squeeze" for freshness or softness. Did you know that
bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Each day has a different color twist tie. They are:
Monday = Blue
Tuesday = Green
Thursday = Red
Friday = White
Saturday = Yellow
So if today was Thursday, you would want a red twist tie -- not a white tie
which is Fridays (almost a week old)!
To remember the colors of the twist tie, they go alphabetically by color -
Blue-Green-Red-White-Yellow, Monday through Saturday, skipping Wednesdays.
Very easy to remember.
Even the ones with the plastic clips DO have different colors.

I think the colors are a standard for mostl bakeries.
The color is different for each day they bake.
I saw the list of colors & the days they stand for but I don't remember what they are.
They do that to insure that the freshest product is always out.
Many bakeries take back the previous days product to resell in their own day old shops.

It signifies the day of the week it was delivered... Example: Red for Monday, Blue for Tuesday... ect.
You can ask the grocery what color is what day... or even call the bakery. That way you know for sure your getting the freshest. Hope that helps

The manufacturer uses different colors to tell them which day they were produced. It's like a date code at a glance.

usually they are a code for the bread delivery person. They tell him which ones have expired.
Are you sure they all had the same expiration date .
