Someone recently asked a question about violence on TV vs. nudity?
If you had to choose between letting your 5 year-old child watch a two minute pornographic scene involving a man and a woman, or a two minute graphic scene watching a woman get stabbed to death by a man, which would you choose?
I imagine most people would go with the sex scene, but then why do we censor sex so much more than violence?
What do you think?

Bookworm, if I had no choice in the matter and I had to choose between the two, I would choose the violence. Why, because I believe sex is private and should be kept private, porn is not lovemaking and I would not want the child to get confused about sex. Porn is nasty not beautiful as love making should be. Now even though the violence is a bad choice as well, either way, there is so much violence on TV, as well as commercials these days, that a five 5 year old would be immune to violence more rather than porn. I also would find it would be easier to explain violence to a 5 year old than porn. A 5 year old is old enough to understand both. Good question.

i think of intercourse/nudity is a lot greater satisfying and greater healthy to computer screen than all that intense violence. that's in simple terms yet another occasion human beings being a ill society that action pictures with decapitations, disembowlments and all varieties of intense violence widely used to guy can get a much less restrictive score than those showing finished frontal nudity or possibly a touch bit show intercourse. God help us if the guy has an erection! If I had any teenagers at recent i might quite enable them to computer screen a competent porno action picture (with loving, being concerned intercourse...not ordinary to discover in recent times!) than "observed III", "Texas Chainsaw bloodbath" or any of that different intense violence crap obtainable.

I would turn the tv off.
If that's not an option I would leave the murder scene.
Of course I would discuss it with them...and....
Although murder is bad and wrong, sex is a private thing between a husband and wife.

thank god i dont have a five year old. but this is something that really bothers me a lot. there can be a violent movie on tv where women are being beaten up, or killed. then Fashion File or something comes on and theres this viewer discretion warning. god forbid, you might be exposed to something beautiful.
