I prefer wind energy because it is the only renewable energy source that is curently economically competitive with fossil fuels.

Currently the average cost of production of electricity produced by wind energy is approximately 4 cents per kilowatt hour.

Nuclear is the only proven alternative that is reliable, and with reasonable cost, can provide the massive amount of energy to sustain our way of life. France now produces about 80% from nuclear. Japan over 40%. They have been operating for many years. We had a wonderful nuclear industry in the US in the 70's and 80's. Engineers were developing new plants which were "Breeders". They actually made more new fuel while generating power. Trillions of dollars went into research and development because even back then the professional engineers and scientist working on all types of alternatives new Nuclear was our only real hope. "Environmentalists" killed that hope and now where are we?

Others like Solar and Wind are good for supplemental power. They work well for specific locations and specific applications, but are more expensive and unreliable because they are not 24/7.

Source(s): You can thank all the so-called "Environmentalists" out there for our great position with global warming and foriegn oil independance. Will people ever learn to listen to engineers and scientists instead of hollywood, media, and politicians?

It depends on the circumstances, solar is probably the best

overall because everybody gets some sunlight, but there is also wind which is good in certain area's, and wave power generation which is good if you're near the ocean or generators in fast flowing rivers. New York just installed some generators in the East River, which has a high flow rate and they are supposed to be generating quite a bit of power, for free.

Actually, I would say the best form would be a combination!!

A small turbine in conjunction with a PV system. If the sun ain't shinin' the wind is usually a blowin' and vice versa.

interior the longer run i think of photograph voltaic. genuine now hydro, biomass and wind are waiting to bypass and economic. interior the subsequent 10 years skinny action picture photograph voltaic will start to make a skill. In approximately 2 many years marine skill could desire to be commencing as much as make a huge effect too. In 50 years, i could assume photograph voltaic to be the excellent. Theoretically you are able to replace roads, roofs and so on with it and generate great quantities of skill without making use of up extra land. needless to say, you don't get skill from it in one day, yet with a mixture of 'clever grid' technologies, charging electric powered vehicles in the process the day, batteries/gasoline cells/pumped hydro/compressed air and so on you are able to gentle it out lots. a minimum of closer the equator, I assume photograph voltaic often is the main important one.

I think the best form of energy is either babies / toddlers in a giant hamster wheel or aborted fetuses. There are plenty of them around so why not put them to good use instead of filling up the landfills?

solar. The sun give its light even on a cloudy day.

But the cost is terrible, and the products inefficient.

It all depends of your energy load, the place, the local availability, local constraints, etc...
