Hollywood isn't that big but there is plenty to do and see all over Southern CA. Hollywood shouldn't take more than a day or two to explore and get the feel of. After you are done visiting Hollywood I would go around and check out other places in LA and Southern CA like Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, the Westside, and Malibu. Then head down to Orange COunty and check out the beaches, cities, and theme parks down there. San Diego is a great city to visit and there is plenty to do there and it's about an hour south of Orange County and two hours south of downtown LA. Lots of great beaches and attractions there like the SD Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Old Town, downtown San Diego, ect... Also Santa Barbara is a beautiful coastal town to check out about an hour and half north of LA.

Hawaii is also great, not sure what island or islands you are going to . But Honolulu on Oahu is a cool city with tons of things to do and see. Many of the other islands are also great to check out, especially the Big Island if you want a more rural and less touristy setting. Airfare between the islands is usually around $100 roundtrip.

1.5 weeks in each place should be plenty of time to soak up the scene and have a great vacation.

A lot of the answerers above have covered most of what I was going to say, but I would suggest 2 wks in HI, one in Hollywood. If you plan on staying a week and half in SoCal, why not venture down to SD like the other answerer suggested.

Mainly I decided to answer to give you some pointers about Hawai'i:

Honolulu on Oahu (Waikiki area) has some pretty "active" nightlife going on and the island has a couple of cool spots to visit if you want to spend a few days there.

DEFINITELY stay on Maui for a week-ish.

~Lahaina side has great hotels/resorts, and you can scuba dive Molokini (it's a protected reef area, lots of great tropical fish). The water in Hawai'i is also the clearest in winter.

~Also, drive to Hana and spend the day there. The black sand beach at Wainapanapa makes for great vacation photos, although you can't swim there (the currents , rocks and waves are too dangerous). There's also many cool lava tubes. There's a hotel in Hana if you want to spend the night, and a nice black sand beach you can lay out on and go swimming in further down Hana Hwy. And then further down some more is the 7 sacred pools, which is a MUST SEE! Unless the pools are closed due to too much rainfall/overflow, you can jump off the waterfalls and go swimming, it's all fresh water. It's amazing.

~Kihei side of Maui has some nice beaches (polo, makena aka Big Beach, and Kamaole beach parks).. if you end up in Kihei stop by Da Kitchen and have lunch. Huge portions of deliciousness. Also right before you hit Polo beach there's the Shops at Wailea; there are some nice high-end boutiques there if you feel like shopping.

~Haleakala is also a must-see if you are on Maui. Go early morning to see the sun rise... try zip line in upcountry (where you zip through the trees on a cable.. featured on the TV show Little People, Big World). The weather upcountry is cooler than Kihei/Lahaina and it's really beautiful. A little past Pai'a is Mama's Fish House - it's the best restaurant on Maui. Celebs like Paris Hilton and NFL players go there to eat, and the food reigns SUPREME. Definitely try the beef poke (pronounced 'poh-key'), it's ono (delicious).

I know I only really covered the "beach holiday" portion of your question but you'll find that Hawai'i can cater to the active as well as more relaxation-inclined. Hope you two have a wonderful honeymoon either way.. best wishes.

That sounds fabulous - though I would do one week in Cali and two in Hollywood.

Hollywood attractions include the typical touristy stuff - walking along the avenue of stars, seeing the great museums and nightlife, some great places to eat and of course a hike up Griffith park to see the actual Hollywood sign. Check out Venice beach too! Some great shopping for nick nacks and getting a feel for California - with an eclectic grassroots sort of venue.

A week is more than enough in Hollywood though... you will want to get away by the end of the week. HA! You could get away really with 4 of 5 days unless you plan to also go to a theme park or something.

And of course there is so much to do in Hawaii from scuba diving, hiking, swimming, and shopping!

That sounds amazing though - can I marry you? ;)

in hollywood there's hollywood bowl. it's a big place where you can attend all kinds of concerts . the tickets are available , no problem. this is where you see the sign HOLLWOOD on the side of a hill . in hollwood there is also the street in which the names of all stars are places on the pavement in front of a movie theatre. that's al you can find. but you can go on trips to different studios to see special effects and funny bridges , etc. south california is like a wonderland . it's full of fun places like VENICE BEACH where you see the stragest creatures and their hobbies that make you wonder at their creativity. you must go to an information desk and ask about tours and events.

as for hawaii, waikiki is one of the best . dont miss visiting the big centre where you spend the whole day, have lunch, watch parades and a show in the evening . it's called Polynesian Cultural Centre. it shows you the different styles of cottages and women's and men's wear in every island that is polynesian . you wont find pepsi, cola, tea , coffee or any alcoholic beverages in the centre , bec it is Mormon.however, any of these drinks is available all over the island.it's just the centre that keeps to the Mormon religious rules .

you will enjoy both parts of the world which make us feel we are living in the full sense of the world.

I heard Waikiki is great for those who like to be active on their trip as well as the ocean enjoyment. Try visitcalifornia.com or something like that. I myself dont think it's a lot to do site seeing the stars homes which are bush line covered for their privacy, the stars walk and china theater, Disney and shipping in hollywood if you got it like that. I wasnt impressed with CA

I suggest just going to hawaii, then plan some surf lessons and a luau, a trip to the volcano, parasailing, renting a boat, going snorkelling...so on it would be easier (cheaper) you can still be active in Hawaii. And it is absolutly beautiful! Hollywood is blah. and fake boobs
