I have a question about Pit Bulls?

i would like someone to give me an intelligent well founded answer for why they hate pit bulls so much. i want to know why it's ok to say ban the breed because one time you had a bad or scary experience with a pit. there are many other breeds of dogs that can do just as much, and have done just as much damage as a pit bull. i understand pits are the ones you see on the news the most. ever wonder why that is? is it possible that the main poulation readily accepts the evil pit bull accounts. why have other breeds of dogs magically stopped attacking sine the pit bull hysteria? could it be because the type of owner that has that dog could be responsible? that the type of person that would want a dog simply because they're tough looking is the exact type of person that shouldn't own one? these people aren't going to change, can someone please tell me how banning pit bulls will stop these type of people from just going out and getting another breed that has the same capabilities

please don't tell me because this one time either yourself or someone you knew was either attacked or hurt by a pit. i have a scar on my leg from a lab. what would you think if i said ban all labs and lab mixes because this one time a lab..........?

mostly what is said is an opinion. there are many facts that are proven and state that pit bulls aren't the evil dogs they are portrayed to be. the point is not many take the time to look for these actual facts before giving an opinion.

A report about the local Golden Retriever that attacks and maims a child isn't considered newsworthy. No one wants to believe that any dogs--even the fuzzy, cute, popular ones--are capable of biting. It's much easier to blow up and sensationalize a story about a vicious dog when it's a member of a breed who's reputation preceeds it. Pit Bulls are already considered the demons. All the reporters have to do is stand in front of the camera, look horrified, and say, "A Pit Bull did it".

I love pits.  I think the reason the breed bans have gone so far is just because of human nature to blame things on others.  Think of history.  Humans are always blaming other people for things as simple as race or gender.  This is just the same thing, but with dogs.  A couple people get attacked by pits, and they are suddenly the "vicous breed".  And people forget about the hundreds of attacks that aren't pits.  Society has also singled out pits more than other breeds because of the popularity of illigal pit bull fights.

This is all just my opinion.

I wonder the same thing. My dog is kid and dog aggressive. He is an English Pointer. He bit my cousin 4 months ago....I paid the hospital bills and he is going through one on one time with my dog behaviorist. I am not scared of him and I do not wish to ban Pointers. Pit Bull's are my favorite breed. I don't think people realize that there are 23 different breeds that look like Pit Bulls. Do people not realize that Rottweilers kill more people a year? I don't think people know that more kids or killed by their parents a year. On average, there are 3 human fatalities a year caused by Pit Bulls. And I don't think people know that Pit Bull's weren't bred to kill or fight to begin with. At the beginning, they were bred for working dogs. And some sicko noticed that they have the perfect body type for fighting. There is so much I want to say and I just can't fit it all in this.

IT IS NOT THE PIT BULL ITS THE OWNER THAT MAKE THEM MEAN AND THAT STINKS. I HAVE BEEN AROUND PITS BEFORE AND THEY ARE SWEET DOGS. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO BAN A BREED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW BECAUSE THEN MY DOG IS NEXT. WHAT IS THIS

people hate them because they are common for dogfighting, and don't like dogs that are aggressive. they are actually very sweet, it's just that the breed is associated with fighting and killing other animals that 'un-educated' people are scared of them.
