Undercover Housewives?
Here we go hope this time this is put into the food section.
Did anyone watch the above program last night it was on Tyne & Tees. The housewives discovered that wetherspoons are selling Zebu never heard of it nor me.Well there selling it has British Beef.I wonder how many more food chains are passing this rubbish off has 100% British Beef.Well for me it's the farmers market or do without meat has I am not prepared to eat that. Also anyone think the meat you buy is tasteless.Chicken piles of water comes out of it.Also medicines have health warnings on them about additives in them. There in our Food, Sweets everything yet no health warning. No wonder all these mysterious allergies are apppearing.
It will not be British Farmers
Has anyone seen a Zebu they showed one. There weird looking they have cross bred them with European cattle.I have not seen cattle in this country look like them. They have no right lying to us also where do our animals go.
Teddy I agree however they have no right to sell Zebu has British Beef & most other countries have banned the bulk of additives they do not need to be put into our food.
The additives are put in most of the food, drinks & sweets. They did not say if the Zebu had additives. Also this is a cross not a wild one. These will not be allowed to roam.

We have a very good butcher in the village, his meat must be good ,he eats it himself.
You would be appalled if you knew what goes into some of the food we eat. Worked in a few large food manufacturers and the things they put in their pies would make you puke.Thank god for the village baker.

Hello fellow pom, I live in South Africa and Zebu for your information is an africanised cow, normally typified by large horns, a hump on the shoulder and a speckled skin, the are also known as Nguni cattle. For you information Zebu is grown by the indigineous peoples of Southern Africa and are nornally extremely free range and DO NOT normally have any hormones or other chemicals nasties added, as the farmer cannot afford to inject their cattle, they are immune to most bush diseases like rinderpest, unlike most european cattle. To sell it as british beef ?? were the cattle raised in the UK, what is british beef ??? only a particular breed of cow ?? name one....... the aberdeen angus..... I must admit having eaten it and wasnt particularly impressed. The good thing about free range zebu is the natural marbling of the meat, ask any chef about marbling......... If the zebu was imported and sold as british beef... then that is wrong. Some of the quirks of fate that make your argument fatuous to say the least is curry......indian, pizza...... italian,.....cod and chips, the fish comes from Iceland or off its shores and the potato comes from south america. You should be pleased that you are being exposed to new foods from around the world and not display such a xenophobic attitude......... long live diversity. With regards to you other comments I could not agree more farming has become Agrobusiness and not agriculture and its all about growing something as quickly as possible for the least cost and to knock it out cheep (sic). I agree buy directly from the farmers and put the culture back into agriculture.

Let me put you staight on that,I too watched the programe, they are not selling zebo they are selling beef with zebu d.n.a in it,and yes meat is tastless that you buy from supermarkets that is why I only buy from butchers who sell local farmers meat or go to farmers market asda is the worst for chicken they are batterie hens and forced feed.
I only eat eggs that are free range, chicken free range and I make my own jam and my own sweets home made fudge you can't beat that.

Frightening programme, as you say no wonder more people are getting ill and all these E numbers and additives that are doing people untold harm. It's like a maze though and of course no place like Weatherspoons is going to tell you what meats they are serving up, you could be eating horsemeat for all you know. Chicken is so battery farmed that it is completely tasteless, the problem of course is we are mostly to blame, we want cheap products and should expect to get what we pay for, if you see what i mean.

frozen salted chicken from Brazil , pork from somewhere in Eastern Europa (packed in UK)beef from us/s America /Africa all using growth promoters that are band in UK are all available in caffe /restrants super markets near you try and ask for the tractability of your meat in the s/markets restrants etc you should have no problem with independent butchers.if you see the words "sourced in the UK"ask for country of origin.if you cant get a answer try phoning trading standards, and mention tradsdescription act
