How safe is Glendale AZ?

I am moving to a townhouse on W Oregon Ave a little north of W Camelback RD Off N 75th Ave....Am I going to be able to walk my dog outside with out getting shot? I've never lived in a city before and some tell me Glendale isn't bad others tell me never to walk down the street does anyone know the area I described above? Please tell me it isn't in a bad area....

It is not the worst area of town, but it certainly is not the best. If you want to walk your dog, do it early in the evening, not at night. You have a very high chance of having a car stolen or broken into. Possibly your home. Make sure to take the proper precautions, lock door, alarms, etc.

Maryvale Hospital is at 51st and Camelback and shootings happen there. You are close to Maryvale, which has a reputation for being a bad area. I agree with one of the answerers above, north of Thunderbird is a much better area of the city to live.

FYI- Jordin Sparks did not live in that area of Glendale. She lives over by Arrowhead Mall which is an upper class area (homes $350,000 and up). Nowhere near 75th and Camelback, much farther north.

It's not the best part of Glendale, but your not going to get shot just walking down the street. Some people just see a few more minorites then what they are use to, and automatically roll up the windows and lock the doors. I prefer anything north of Thunderbird Rd.

hi, it is safe. Afterall , Jordin Sparks lives(or once lived) there. And her dad was a professional foortball player. Just that means her family has a lot of money, and if you have a lot of $$$ why would you live in the city. Glendale it just your average suberb. Be street smart just like eveywhere else you go and you will be perfectly safe....its not like your moving to "the hood" or the south side of chicago

  • Sorry to say this is a bad area. My mom lives in this area and there are a lot of shootings and drub busts and not to mention a lot of drop houses. On July 6 my moms house was searched by the swat team cuz of a car that was left outside her house. Someone had stolen that car.And not to mention you hear a lot of cops sirens at night and helicopters.

Here's the city rating for Glendale, AZ. This site shows you all the crime statistics publicly available. It looks like the violent crime is pretty low, but property crime is quite high! (You probably won't need mace but a home alarm system would be a good idea.)

    LOL...

Glendale is a safe place to live, but it's still near Phoenix. Anything can happen. Just say away from El Mirage!

Lots of property crime. I hope you have a garage for your car, there is a lot of car theft and vandalism in Glendale.

Source(s): My own experience - no garage - car went bye-bye.

Crime happens everywhere but it isn't so abundant in that area.
