No it is not true. In the late 70's and early 80's Harley was owned by a company over seas called AMF. Their quality drop drastically and Harley was in trouble, that is until the factory workers of Harley Davidson raised the money and bought 51% of the company and took it back. Ever since then Harley has been owned and controlled by those who put them together. So I seriously doubt if Harley will ever be sold to an overseas interest again.

Not gonna happen, as previously stated this is an old rumor.
Seriously though, where did some of these other answers come from? AMF an overseas company? FYI, that stands for American Machine Foundry, and they're based in Richmond VA.The rest of the answer is true, Harley is an employee managed company, though to say it's employee owned is misleading since it's publicly traded and therefore owned by the stockholders.
Ducati/Harley? I could see that. actually that might get Harley a little more edge in the racing market.

Not true.
Over a year ago I overheard one Harley rider tell another that Harley-Davidson had bought Honda.
Harley and Honda take turns being top seller in the US. There's no reason for either to sell out.

No, there was some rumblings going on with the stock market. Honda buying Harley quickly became a rumor of a possibility. Honda since has come out and said they have no interest in buying Harley. That was a few weeks ago and any stock rumors have died out.

Why not? Half the parts on a Harley are from overseas anyway - it would make sense. Sadly I doubt the price would drop since the unionized "skilled" labor at Harley ends up adding a lot to the bikes price.

Probably not true, but Harley and Ducati has been talking to one another. There won't be a merger, but I imagine they could combine efforts in R&D similar to Suzuki and Kawasaki. Ducati seems like an odd match with Harley, but they both have niche markets and if you recall Porsche designed the V-Rod motor.

No, it is not true. I own a '91 HD Ultra Classic Trike and I'm a graduate of Phoenix HD Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and according to my Trike Riders International Magazine, they have recently gone into business with Lehman Trikes to produce Factory Trikes with full Harley warranties. Now does that sound like they are thinking of hooking up with Honda? I like Honda's and many other scoots, especially trikes, but I doubt that the two will ever merge. Hope this helps~desertrat

I've never heard that one.
Besides, it wasn't that long ago that Harley returned to US ownership, and I doubt they're interested in selling at the moment.

Honda doesn't need Harley, it already has superior products on the market
