A job that I can work with animals or something related to animals?

I am looking for a job now and I am 16. I would really like to find a good job to start out with. I'm thinking of applying at a petsmart nearby. But I am so inexperienced in the business world, I don't know what to do. So I need help. What can I do and what can't I do? What do I do in a resume and and interview? Is there an easy job? I'm not very social btw but I think that makes things worse...

do not start at petsmart they will hold you down.

work for a local vet-if no jobs are available ask then for an intern style possition-or if they know another vet who needs help. most vets do. it is a great field which makes good money. believe in you- they will educate you and you can take night classes to get your start toward a degree.

again-believe in your self- we all started without knowing-

rejection leads to acceptance at somepoint. trying is all.

First, you have to understand that you will not get a "good" job without any experience or work history.

But, this is probably a good thing. You need to pay your dues and learn the trade before you are given the responsibilities of a "good" job.

I wouldn't start with Pet Smart unless you want to clean cages...they will not teach you anything about animals.

You didn't say if you needed the income from a job. But, a local animal rescue clinic will teach you a lot more.

I was raised on a farm and was going to be a veteran. I even spent two years in college pursuing that goal. However, I changed my mind.

You are very young...I wouldn't worry about being social at this point. I am 46 and not very social either...I trust animals more than I trust people. However, I finally found something I am good at...now I work when I want to (I am semi-retired).

I am a Tax Accountant...I get lied to at least ten times a day when I work. Is it really hard to understand why I like animals more than people?

Other than the obvious vets offices and pet stores you may want check and see if any local farms or stables are hiring and your local farriers, if you have any in your area. The first two are not going to be extremely concerned with any kind of resume but will give you an opportunity to work with animals. I know there are farriers in my area that are always looking for help or interns that are interested in the field since it is a trade and well lets face it not alot of people are interested in the trades anymore. All of them aren't exactly easy jobs, and most dealing with animals are not going to be easy, but you get to be outside most of the day at least. Also you can check the SPCA, they won't pay you more than likely but at least you can rack up job experience. Good luck.

Have you tried helping at a Veteran Clinic. And remember something the rest of your life, quit talking down about yourself.

Work on your social skills, might stem from you having a little insecurity of yourself. I am not trying to be mean but social skills play a major role in everything in life. You don't have to become Paris Hilton or nothing but work on loving yourself and being sure of yourself (self esteem).

You will achieve a lot more, be an entrepreneur. Care for the neighbors pets while they go on vacation. Make up your own business cards. That is a start and much better than working for someone.
