where is the "x-th root button" on the ti 86?

Here's a link to the manual for the Ti-86. You can look up whatever you need to know.

Most scientific calculators will have an "nth root" button over the exponential button, but I don't think this is the case with the TI-86. You might find something under the "math" functions.
Though you could alternatively use the caret (^) button and parentheses to enter in a root as an exponent like this:
27^(1/3)

Ive never seen a TI 86. I have an 83, so I assume yours is more advanced and complex... therefore probably laid out worse than mine.
On mine, I have to push the MATH button. One of the options that displays is "xây".
The only buttons I have on the console, itself, and not hidden in the programming is the basic square exponent and square root buttons. I dont even have cubed. But I do have the generic ^ button... So I can put in any exponent I want.
Most calculators that allow for any exponent either have the carrat ^ or the expression "x^y"
Remember, too, that roots are reciprocal exponents
