Atheists - would you attack Christians if they didn't try to convert you/challenge your ideology?

With the exception of Christianity, it seems like most ideologies are pretty passive in their recruiting techniques. Christianity is the one that goes out, actively challenges others' faiths and suggests a new one. Then they complain that everyone else bashes on them.

My sincere apologies to Christians who do not actively recruit, you must be tired of being grouped with more extreme sects of your religion. Anyone of any faith is encouraged to offer their opinions.

You know what ticks me off? I'll be reading a long list of answers and get to a Christian's post and they'll be making a whole lot of sense and I'm nodding my head and thinking I found a great answer that deserves a thumbs up, and then ........ they've just gotta throw in that stupid little last part about how unfortunately, whoever doesn't accept this or that is going to burn.

So, it's not just Christians who knock on my door.

Oh, okay, I thought of something else. I've never ATTACKED any Christians but I really do pity people who believe the bible is the word of god just because everybody says so. They have no witnesses who can concur that God Himself wrote the words, and now Christians are saying, "He didn't write them, but he told the men who wrote the bible what to say." And they know this because ........... ?

I must agree, as an atheist I have seen the same thing. I my self must admit that i have never gone after, say Buddhists, I can't really say why, but the fact that one has never come knocking on my door asking if I have found Buddha, could have somthing to do with it. On that subject, why do Christians keep asking me if I've found Jesuse? What, did you guys lose him or something?

Yes. It isn't the conversion by the sword ideal, though it is very sick.

It is the laws they try to place on everyone else. IE "Under God" in the Pledge. "In God We Trust" on our money. Gay marriage.

Jews and Muslims are hardly trying to take over the US govt and change its laws to suit their ideologies. Nor do they bash on my door at 6 in the AM

Source(s): Answer above is certainly sick. School shootings tend to be Xian suburban schools. I love the safety of my atheist public, city school.

I have never attacked anyone in my life. I answer questions. Debate and disagreement is not attacking.

Besides if they vote to try to change laws that affect my way of life because of their beliefs then I am against them.

If they didn't try to insinuate their beliefs in every facet of my life, no I'd leave them alone. But no, they think it's alright to legislate their morality on everybody. I refuse to tolerate or have any respect for that.

Christians do make themselves easy targets by constantly being on the radar..

The Mormons are doing a great job helping people realize the full potential of what we can be. They become happier, and better. Their children are proud of themselves and try hard to live the commandments of God. If every child was a Mormon today, Schools would never again have to worry about a school shooting.

More then I can say for them if they were all atheist.
