Why won't my computer allow me to delete this bookmark?
I was looking up the word "prevail" on an Internet dictionary site and decided it would be nice to have easy access to this dictionary/Thesaurus, so I bookmarked it. The problem is that I bookmarked the definition of "prevail" and not the site itself. Everytime I try to delete this entry, and click the part were it asks if I'm sure I want to delete this source, I get a pop-up stating that the attempt to delete this particular bookmark has failed. It's so frustrating.
I've experimented and tried to delete other bookmarks, including this same dictionary site minus the word "prevail" and it is accomplished successfully. It's really starting to irk me. What on earth can I do to delete this bookmark [prevail-Synonyms from Thesaurus.com] that I mistakenly added?

First, try to manually delete the bookmark. Open whatever program you use to browse your computer files, and somehow get to your browser's 'Bookmarks' folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\[User]\Favorites\ under Internet Explorer. There should be a few folders and also some *.url files. They should be named exactly the same way as your real bookmarks. If that doesn't work, try to reinstall (uninstall then [re]install) whatever browser you're using. To uninstall most browsers, you would normally uninstall them like any other program. Oh, and you need to choose to delete configuration and user files. But be sure to create a backup of most of your config and user files. To reinstall, just... well... reinstall it.
If THAT doesn't work, 1: Your computer is screwed. 2: Email me. Oh, slvrfx32, he already said that doesnt work.

Clean your temporary files, cookies etc. Then restart your pc, and check if the book is still there.
Maybe it failed because it has been deleted, but the browser has kept the icon.

what browser are you using?
firefox has a bookmark manager, try going there and delete from there
if it doesn't work, clear your temporary internet files, cache, and cookies and try again
