Has anyone else noticed this?

"Ask Mike" is quick to point out that many people don't spell very well on this site.

http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-d8pH0dcoRKeB12yOcnU...

I will admit, I am not the greatest at typing or spelling, but if Mike is going to pick, don't you think he should at least tell Yahoo to fix their darn spell checker?

Try this... ask a question. (Don't worry, you don't have to hit submit.) Type your test questions and then add some details in the additional details section. When typing your details, throw some good spwellglagk errors in there, like I just did.

Now hit the check spelling link.

Nothing right? It only checked the question line, right?

Has anyone else noticed that if you type a response to a question of any appreciable length, spell checker chokes and dies on that too?

Am I crazy? Is it just me noticing this stuff?

Update:

I know what you mean, Dad!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't stand that either!!!!!!!!

Hehe... just kidding.

I thought until now that I was the only participant who had trouble with spell check because I have the same problem with my long answers. My spell check turns into this little spinning button dynamo that never does anything and never stops spinning. I had gotten it into my head that something about spell check hadn't downloaded properly for my account. You have articulated these spell check quirks nicely, sir.

    Hey!

While I agree with what you are saying, I must admit that Mike has came up with a good point. The use of immodorate exclamation and improper punctuations frequently frustrate the educated participants.

A person who asks " Can you help me!!!!!!?" can be considered a little kid, and most adults rather not to answer little kids questions on here.

" OMG, My boyfriend cheats on me?" This is not a question, but such sentence ends with a question mark. Very annoying.

" Do you like me!" This is a question and needs a question mark instead of an exclamation mark.

Bottomline, if people take the time to punctuate correctly. Yahoo! Answer would be a much better place.

I am sorry you may not agree with me.

    UPDATE:

Even my Wordperfect Speller does this. I am yet to find a perfect Spell-checker on the Internet, or in stores.

However, I do agree that Yahoo can improve the functionality of the Spell-Checker, but I assume little modification won't make a huge difference.

I've noticed the spell checker's problems, as well.

Personally, I use Firefox, which has a spell checker which highlights misspelled words. If I don't know how to correct the word, I use the Yahoo Spell Checker.

I know some of my answers can rile people, so I try to get the spelling right at least.

I have so noticed the spell checker cannot handle long answers.

It is too bad, they want better spelled words but can't come up with the means to help us spell the correctly.

In school I was great at spelling, but now, I make a lot of typos and forget how to spell some words. ( It really does happen a person forgets how to do things).

Hm...i've got continuously puzzled slightly approximately it, yet you're staggering! you have a very prepared eye and recommendations! great job! i think of that Kevin is greater out of their aim advertising variety so they think of of him as much less significant; i'm no longer announcing I dislike Kevin..merely proving a factor. yet there is likewise Zac Efron...he's 21....nicely, i don't get why the editors try this. and that i think of that he's warm merely like Nick and Joe. Joe is eighteen and he continues to be warm, and Kevin is merely an insignificant 2 years aside and that makes him gruesome??? what's up with that??? Zac Efron is 21 so does that make him gruesome, too? merely because of the fact Kevin is older does not make him gruesome. And this makes me sense undesirable. Kevin is probably no longer my in demand, yet continues to affix the band and merits to be taken care of with know. Why do human beings try this? it quite is called empathy...it does not sense sturdy...ever! Starred situations 10!

I AGREE WITH YOU. IT'S NITPICKING FROM MIKE. SO WHAT IF A PERSON MAKES A SPELLING MISTAKE. WHO DOESN'T.

FURTHERMORE, I READ SOMEWHERE THAT A STUDY DISCOVERED THAT THE MIND CAN ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND THE WORD THAT WAS MISPELLED FOR AS LONG AS THE FIRST AND LAST LETTERS OF THE WORD ARE IN THEIR CORRECT POSITIONS.

FOR EXAMPLE: SCERW ASK MKIE, I DNO'T GVIE A TSOS AOBUT WAHT HE IS NTIPIKCING ON.

    TAHNK YOU.
