Mr. Bad Day
I am a Leftist, but a sensible kind of Leftist.
Does this clip from the Rush Limbaugh show make you think Limbaugh's father was a bad father?
I mean, does he really think this is how fathers should talk to sons? He chose the metaphor of being Obama's "Father Figure," right? So to Rush Limbaugh, Father Figures are people who berate you, and point out when you fail?
The history of serial divorce and substance abuse are making more sense everyday.

4 AnswersPainting1 decade agoWhat hope do we really have for our country if we can't provide health care for its citizens?
Let's assume the Republicans are right; health care reform will put us trillions of dollars in debt, and strain the medical system to the point of breaking.
If that's true, and we cannot provide medical coverage, then how much is this country really worth? Without some kind of universal health care coverage, aren't we really saying that if you don't earn enough money, or can't convince an employer or insurance company to spend money on you, then you don't deserve medical care?
What is that saying for our nation, for our system of government, and for our economic policies?
17 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDoes anyone think Michael Steele is looking good right now?
Is it just my Liberal Bias, or is he sounding kind of silly.
"Nancy Pelosi and her liberal lieutenants made a lot of promises today to get the votes they desperately needed," he said. "Make no mistake -- the Democrat leadership's assurances were based on political expediency, not principle. Anyone receiving a promise from Pelosi is guaranteed to be disappointed in the end when their votes are no longer needed."
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow can the Republicans contribute to Health Care Reform now?
With their "No Republican will vote for this" stance, have they left themselves any way to actually be a part of Health Care Reform? Or have they permanently cast themselves as outsiders in this process?
And will this help them attract any voters outside of the Tea Party folk?
24 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs Talk Radio broadcasting from some Alternative Universe?
I've listened to various Talk Radio shows for years now, and it just never seems like they're talking about the real world.
Today I heard how Obama is in "Panic Mode" from Rush Limbaugh, and how Joe Wilson has been embraced by America from Sean Hannity. Rush also said that there was no charismatic leader of the September 12th protest in Washington, even thought Glenn Beck has been saying he had started it all back in the spring.
Is it possible I'm getting my talk radio from the Mirror Universe, or maybe Earth-three?
13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat is it about South Carolina that causes so much trouble for the Republicans?
First it was Mark Sanford, whose inept philandering embarrassed the GOP, and helped take away their supposed monopoly on "Family Values".
Now, Joe Wilson has embarrassed the party, and probably will continue to do so as both he and his opponent keep bringing up the "You lie" outburst for fund-raising. Which is taking attention away from any problems with Obama-Care that the Republicans should have been drawing attention to.
What gives? Is South Carolina just destined to have clumsy politicians? Or are they all under-cover Democrats?
And what gift will they give us Democrats next?
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDid Joe Wilson help or hurt the Republicans tonight by yelling "You Lie!" during Obama's address?
(I'm assuming that it was Joe Wilson, as reported by several news agencies.)
Seems like he looked amateurish to me, but I might be a little too liberal to see how it really looked.
26 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIn "True Blood," if Bill were to sire a baby vampire before the baby had teeth, would the vampire have fangs?
Sometimes you see child vamps in books and TV (Anita Blake, Buffy, Interview with a Vampire, maybe more), but I never see baby Vampires.
And would there be Nursing? Would vampires be members of the La Leche League? or would they be members the La Sangre League.
And would the La Leche League be offended?
1 AnswerDrama1 decade agoHow much should I pay for a babysitter of 4 month old twins?
My wife and I went out to see a show last night, and a friend from work babysat our twins with the help of her 13-14 year old son (who had completed the local red cross babysitting course.)
We realized during the date that neither of us had ANY idea how much to pay them (or him, since she was just gaga about seeing the twins.)
I paid him a twenty, figuring we were gone for four hours, and five dollars an hour, while not minimum wage, seems pretty generous. And I would rather err on the side of generosity.
But in the future, what are people paying for babysitting, especially twins?

1 AnswerPolitics1 decade agoIs it just me, or is Rush Limbaugh taking more time off than he used to?
Is he getting older, and needs more time off, or what?
Seems like he's always taking a week off.

14 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAre the claims that the Wicked movie will come out in 2010 accurate? Anybody know a reliable source?
Wicked the Movie is listed on IMDB. Is this it?
And how long has this been out? How long have I been missing this?
3 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoIs there an easy way to fix a plastic Electrical box, short of replacing it?
I am trying to install an outdoor wall lamp. Unfortunately, the plastic electrical box the old unit was connected with is looking pretty shabby, and the two screw holes that I would use to attach the Mounting strip are broken (One has a piece of screw in it, the other is cracked by a too large screw that was used.)
Doubly unfortunate, the box goes into a brick wall, and seems to be cemented into place. So replacing it seems like it will be either very difficult or very expensive.
Is there any way to fix this box, or replace it easily?
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHas George W. Bush made a statement on the shooting at the Unitarian Church in Tennessee?
It just hit me, while watching the President with the Pakistani Prime Minister, that I hadn't seen any official comment.
Isn't this the kind of thing presidents make statements about? If he did comment on it, shouldn't the networks cover it better?
11 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoWhat cars are best for the parents of newborn twins?
My wife and I are expecting twins in three months or so. Now we need to find a car to replace my 2-door Honda Civic.
We're looking at the Honda Element and the Honda CR-V, as well as the Toyota Rav-4. Anybody have any experience trying to get two car seats into any of those?
Any other suggestions? We're thinking small SUV, but if that's a bad idea, we can re-think that?
