How much should I pay for a babysitter of 4 month old twins?

My wife and I went out to see a show last night, and a friend from work babysat our twins with the help of her 13-14 year old son (who had completed the local red cross babysitting course.)

We realized during the date that neither of us had ANY idea how much to pay them (or him, since she was just gaga about seeing the twins.)

I paid him a twenty, figuring we were gone for four hours, and five dollars an hour, while not minimum wage, seems pretty generous. And I would rather err on the side of generosity.

But in the future, what are people paying for babysitting, especially twins?

We pay around $20 for four hours to for our two little ones. Some baby sitters we've talked to wanted as much as $12 an hour of course those were actual baby sitting firms.
Most teens I'm sure are happy with 5 or 6 an hour.

I think you paid fine. For teens younger than 16 and for infants, you really don't need to pay a whole lot.  When I babysat as a teen (20 years ago), I usually based my wage on how many kids and how old and how "high maintence" they were. I made about 3 bucks an hour average. When the twins get to be toddlers, think 7 bucks an hour minimum or you may find it hard to find a babysitter!

Well, expenses depend on alot of things.
Since your baby is smaller, the price should be around $10.00 per person. BUT, since the son is licensed, he should get about $15-$20.00. Hope I helped!
