The excessive heat is most likely from the fan running non-stop. This could be sue to a large amount of dust within the machine, a bad fan, or a virus (least case). I would suggest trying to (if you know how to) opening up you lap rop and blowing out any dust and seeingg if this help s the fan to run smoother (without the weight.) If you so not know anything about laptops, please trust me and have someone do it that knows how to, for you can damage the casing easily.
Lastly, by bringing it to a professional, they can change the fan if needed. If this PC is new, use the warranty, as this sounds like a hardware problem.

I wonder how much it is heating. All laptops do heat up and so I would recommend a cool pad but there should be some reason. I've had many laptops that heat up and are uncomfortable. As long as the fan is running smoothly though, I would not worry about it. If you still are having problems, I suggest buying a cooling pad or talk to a Toshiba representative.

Laptops usually get hot because their compact design usually permits very less air inside. Moreover the fans also are not much dedicated or say as sturdy as those of desktops. So you can solve this problem buy buying a laptop cooler. Or if you cannot afford that, you can also use old wooden board under the laptop to give it some gap and provide some air circulation.

It may be clogged with dust, which in that case the fan isn't pushing the heat out. Buy some compressed air and dust out the fan.
If you start getting or have been getting the physical dump memory screen then this is most likely the problem.

No biggy, think warrenty but keep it on a hard surface with room to breath. Toshiba is the only good cheapo that doesn't suck. They all run hot, do some googling you'll see you got a decent LT

Try buying one of those cooling things where you put your laptop on top of. Also if your room is very hot this might be the problem too.

if it's sitting on something i'd move it and like put it on your lap with like space so that a lot of air can get to the bottom. i used to sit my laptop on my bed and when i'd come back it would have overheated and shut down. it sucks i know. i think it might not be getting enough air to cool it down so it might be on the verge of overheating.

maybe try getting a cooling fan or cleaning out the exhaust ports on the laptop...

Put it in a bathtub full of water. Make sure it's plugged in to the ac outlet.
